500 L Gas Brewhouse: Professional 2-Vessel Brewing System
The professional 500 litre brewhouse with LPG or natural gas heating is designed for wort production in craft breweries, microbreweries and commercial beer production facilities. Its two-vessel configuration combines the essential hot-side brewing operations in a compact, functional system suitable for professional craft beer production.
The first vessel is dedicated to mashing and wort boiling, while the second vessel handles lautering/filtration and Whirlpool. This arrangement supports the main brewing stages, including starch conversion during mashing, wort separation from spent grain, boiling with hops and the separation of solid particles during the Whirlpool process.
LPG/Natural Gas Heating and Automatic Temperature Control
The heating system operates using an LPG or natural gas flame. This configuration uses gas as the thermal energy source for mashing and wort boiling, while the electrical supply powers the control, pumping and agitation components.
The brewhouse features automatic temperature control, a stainless steel control panel and a motorized agitator installed on the mash vessel. A safety protection system is provided on the mash vessel opening. The standard electrical supply is 400 V three-phase, with a single-phase configuration available on request.
Wort Circulation, Lautering and Cooling
Wort circulation and transfer are performed by a self-priming pump with an EPDM rubber impeller. An electric variable-speed controller allows the pump speed to be adjusted for different brewing operations, including wort transfer, recirculation and lautering.
A sight glass for monitoring wort clarity allows the brewer to visually inspect the product during processing. For wort cooling after boiling, the system includes a stainless steel plate heat exchanger with EPDM seals.
The complete brewhouse structure is manufactured from AISI 304 stainless steel and features adjustable support feet. Standard accessories include two high-temperature food-grade rubber hoses and a DIN wrench for connecting and disconnecting the flexible hoses.

FAQ – Professional 500 L LPG/Natural Gas Brewhouse
• How does a professional 500 litre 2-vessel brewhouse work?
A 500 litre 2-vessel brewhouse is designed to perform the main operations required for wort production. The first vessel is used for mashing, during which crushed malt is mixed with water and heated according to the temperature stages specified in the brewing recipe. The same vessel is subsequently used for wort boiling. The second vessel is dedicated to lautering/filtration and Whirlpool. During lautering, the liquid wort is separated from the spent grain, while the Whirlpool process helps separate solid particles remaining after boiling. The system includes a self-priming variable-speed pump, a motorized agitator and automatic temperature control. The stainless steel plate heat exchanger then cools the wort before it is transferred to the fermentation tanks. This arrangement makes the two-vessel configuration particularly suitable for professional breweries requiring a compact, medium-capacity brewhouse.
• What are the advantages of LPG or natural gas heating in a 500 L brewhouse?
A 500 litre LPG/natural gas brewhouse uses gas as the thermal energy source for wort production. This configuration is particularly suitable for breweries with an existing natural gas connection or an appropriately sized LPG installation. Compared with a fully electrically heated brewhouse, gas heating reduces the need to rely exclusively on the available electrical capacity for the thermal stages of brewing. Electricity is still required for the pump, motorized agitator, control panel and automatic temperature regulation. The automatic temperature control system helps manage the different mashing stages according to the selected brewing recipe. When choosing a gas-powered brewhouse, operators should consider fuel availability, ventilation, production room characteristics, installation requirements and applicable gas safety regulations.
• How are lautering, filtration and Whirlpool performed in the 500 L brewing system?
In the professional 500 litre brewhouse, the second vessel is dedicated to lautering/filtration and Whirlpool operations. After mashing, lautering separates the liquid wort from the spent grain, allowing the brewing process to continue. Wort circulation is supported by a self-priming pump with an EPDM rubber impeller and an electric variable-speed controller that allows the pump speed to be adjusted. The integrated sight glass provides direct visual monitoring of wort clarity during recirculation. The Whirlpool stage takes place after boiling and helps promote the separation of solid particles, including hop residues and hot-break material. Proper management of these stages prepares the wort for subsequent cooling and transfer to the fermenters. This arrangement is especially useful for craft breweries looking for an organized brewing process within a compact two-vessel system.
• What is the purpose of the stainless steel plate heat exchanger in the 500 litre brewhouse?
The stainless steel plate heat exchanger with EPDM seals is used to cool the wort after boiling. During this stage, the hot wort must be brought to a temperature suitable for the subsequent fermentation process, depending on the beer style and yeast strain being used. Plate heat exchanger technology transfers heat between the hot wort and a cooling fluid through separate metal surfaces. This type of equipment is widely used in professional brewhouses because of its compact design and ability to integrate into the wort transfer circuit. Actual cooling performance depends on operating conditions, fluid temperatures and the technical characteristics of the installation. Once cooled, the wort can be transferred to the fermentation vessels, allowing the brewing process to continue with yeast fermentation and subsequent beer maturation.
• Which breweries are best suited to a professional 500 litre gas brewhouse?
A professional 500 litre 2-vessel brewhouse is suitable for microbreweries, brewpubs, craft breweries, farm breweries and commercial brewing operations looking for a medium-capacity brewing system. Its configuration supports the essential wort production stages using an AISI 304 stainless steel structure, LPG/natural gas heating, automatic temperature control and dedicated wort circulation and cooling equipment. The brewhouse can be combined with appropriately sized fermentation tanks, maturation vessels, Bright Beer Tanks, glycol refrigeration systems, hot water tanks, CIP cleaning equipment, transfer pumps and beer packaging machinery. The selection of complementary equipment should take into account the number of brewing batches, fermentation duration, beer styles and overall production workflow. With the right supporting equipment, a 500 litre brewhouse can form the core of a complete professional craft brewery.
